Lucknow, April 29, 2025 – The Oudh Bar Association, High Court, Lucknow, has released the official election program for the 2025-26 term. OBA has outlined key dates and qualifications for office members in a notice dated April 29, 2025.
The election timeline is as follows:
May 2, 2025: Last date for deposition of subscription.
May 6, 2025: Publication of Provisional Voter List.
May 7, 2025: Publication of Final Voter List.
May 8-9, 2025: Filing of nominations by contesting candidates (10:00 AM to 3:00 PM).
May 10, 2025 (up to 4:00 PM): Scrutiny/Withdrawal/Objection.
May 10, 2025 (after 4:00 PM): Disposal of Objection.
May 12, 2025: Publication of list of contesting candidates.
May 16, 2025: Display of sample ballot paper.
May 20, 2025: Polling of Votes.
May 21, 2025: Counting of Votes.
May 22, 2025: Certificate Distribution.
Eligibility criteria for office members include:
- President: An ordinary member with at least 25 years of regular and active practice in the High Court, Lucknow.
- One Vice-President (Senior): An ordinary member with at least 20 years of regular and active practice.
- Two Vice-Presidents (Middle): An ordinary member with more than 10 years of regular and active practice.
- One Vice-President (Junior): An ordinary member with below 10 years of regular and active practice.
- General Secretary: An ordinary member with more than 15 years of regular and active practice.
- Treasurer: An ordinary member with more than 10 years of regular and active practice.
- Three Joint Secretaries: An ordinary member with more than 5 years of regular and active practice.
- Twelve Members Governing Council: 6 ordinary members with more than 15 years and 6 with below 15 years of regular and active practice.
The election process will be overseen by Returning Officers Sanjay Misra and G.S. Tripathi.
