Punjab & Haryana High Court Reaffirms Constitutional Supremacy Over All Branches of Government

0

Chandigarh, May 2, 2025 — In a significant pronouncement, the Punjab & Haryana High Court has reiterated that the Constitution of India stands as the supreme law of the land, asserting that the judiciary, legislature, and executive are co-equal organs of the State, each bound by constitutional limits.

The Court emphasized that no individual organ of the State holds supremacy over the others. It underscored that the Constitution is the ultimate authority, and all branches must operate within its framework to maintain the balance of power and uphold the rule of law.

This reaffirmation serves as a reminder of the foundational principle of separation of powers enshrined in the Indian Constitution, ensuring that each branch functions independently yet harmoniously within its designated sphere.
